Restaurant Al Grottino enjoys a superb position right in the heart of the historic center of Capri, a mere 30 meters from the famous Piazzetta. The restaurant occupies part of an ancient 15th century edifice, characterised by the charming arches and cross vaulted ceilings typical of Capri's older buildings.

A well established favourite for connoisseurs of good food and wine, Al Grottino is invariably mentioned in all of the most important international annual gastronomic guides. For over 80 years, the Arbace family has been serving excellent local and Neapolitan cuisine and, in particular, the dishes for which Capri has become famous.
Simply cooked, same-day-fresh ingredients, result in fabulous Mediterranean food, appreciated by a vast and varied clientèle, many of whom can be seen in the photo gallery displayed on the restaurant's walls.
During the warm summer months, it's particularly pleasant to relax over a meal in Il Grottino's air conditioned dining room.

I am reminded why I don’t go to only 4 dot restaurants, really hit or miss. My pasta was Uncooked. As in the center was grainy. Portion was small. The restaurant was tiny, overcrowded. Price was high. Ridiculous.

Scelta sbagliata, sabbia nelle vongole e grana nel pesce

Esperienza da non ripetere, ordinato scialatielli alle vongole (lupini) che avevano la sabbia, piatto insapore, ho chiesto che mi fosse rifatto il piatto e anche la seconda volta ho trovato la sabbia. Nella pasta con zucchine e gamberi c’era addirittura il grana nel sugo, un trauma per noi italiani il formaggio nel pesce !!!!!!! Alla fine della cena il proprietario voleva farci pagare il piatto con la sabbia dicendo che aveva assaggiato le vongole e lui di sabbia non ne aveva trovata, solo perché abbiamo insistito ci ha tolto 15€ (il piatto costava 25€). Insomma esperienza pessima.

Wonderful spot right off the main piazza, with incredible food

I visit Al Grottino for lunch or dinner (or both) every time I am in Capri. The food is fresh and absolutely delicious - I dream about their scialatielli al limone e melograno (fresh scialatielli, a pasta typical of this area, with a lemon sauce and pomegranate seeds), and their caprese cake is a must-have. The staff and owners are absolutely lovely, and this little "grotta" right off the main piazzetta is a little turquoise gem.

Purtroppo abbiamo preso un piatto di pasta con le vongole (lupini), che nn aveva alcun sapore Mi dispiace Il prezzo nn vi è rapporto prezzo qualità
