Getting your luggage around Capri

Capri's center is tough on suitcases: narrow lanes, steps, and steep climbs. Porters meet arriving boats at the port and handle both transport and storage, which matters most if your hotel sits in the center and is only reachable on foot. Hand your bags over, and they go straight to your room.

How it works

• Hotel concierge: most hotels arrange luggage transport for you. Look for a porter holding a sign with your hotel's name as you step off the hydrofoil.

• On your own: you can also hand your bags directly to porters from Cooperativa Portuali Capresi, the island's official luggage service.

• Staying in Anacapri: most hotels there are reachable by taxi, so this usually isn't an issue.

Luggage storage

You'll find storage points at Marina Grande, the Piazzetta, and Anacapri. No booking needed: Marina Grande has several, including one right across from the funicular station. In the Piazzetta, the storage point sits at the top of the stairs down, between Piccolo Bar and Bar Caso. Cost: about €5 per piece.
