Let me preface this with the thought that JK Kitchen has the capability to be a 5 star experience, but management is apparently 1 star. On entrance it is quite beautiful, you walk out onto the terrace overseeing the ocean down below. The cocktails were good and the small tapa we had was excellent. We then moved to a dining table outside. We noticed all serversemployees were quite young and very attentive, we started with cava and were shown a multi-page wine list, from which we selected a nice red. The server wanted our order and we explained we wanted to take our time, so please don't put the order in too quickly and rush the food out. About 10 minutes later she returned, that wine is not available. We choose another.. you guessed it, after a period she returned... not available. We then said "maybe you tell us what IS available and we order that?". Choose red wine #3, she returns with a bottle (success!), opens it, and pours.. its WHITE! Same brand, similar label, wrong wine. And now here comes the food. About when we finished our main course the bottle of red wine shows up, just in time for dessert. All the food was very good, the service itself was excellent, I wholly blame management for the issues. What does it take to maintain a wine inventory and a current wine list? Also proper training of serverskitchen staff so the client is not served out of order. I will say they comped us a good amount for the issues without us saying a word, but whoever is running the show there really needs to step up.

Bizarre

We were surprised and honestly, a bit confused. We found this restaurant based on the previous good trip advisor reviews and decided to come here during our honeymoon trip to Capri looking to splurge one night on an upscale Italian dinner with a nice view. The view did not disappoint, however the dinner was a combination of confusing and just plain bad. To start with, upon showing up at our reservation time, we were ushered to the back deck to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail. We walked by the empty restaurant in the process. Snacks and drinks were nice. For dinner, we were moved into a private room in the hotel library, since no one else was eating and we seemed to have full reign of the place, where we sat on a sofa at a coffee table for dinner. We never saw another patron during our dinner. It was a nice gesture, but just seemed to accentuate the awkwardness. The menu itself was difficult to decipher. There were two tasting menu options which we thankfully avoided. The a la carte selections were confusing and required us to ask our waiter to explain. After ordering, we were treated to a plate of small bites spread over a board shaped like the island. Unfortunately, none of them were good and was comprised of either stale, cold and flavorless puffs and an extremely salty bite of fried tuna. The following courses were no different, including an rather underwhelming pasta dish that was clearly made from boxed dried pasta. We fortunately only decided to order 2 a la carte dishes. None of the ingredients were bad in themselves and the dishes were beautifully presented, but nothing was prepared with any skill in actual cooking. The petit fours were actually surprisingly good, but I suspect it was prepared by someone else. We found ourselves puzzled through the whole dinner. There have been no reviews since September of 2018 and google maps reports j kitchen as “permanently closed”. We don’t know the history of this place but we find ourselves wondering if the former good restaurant has been closed due to either bad cooking or it has been kept going by a quite less talented chef. We will say the service was exquisite and very attentive. We just wonder how long such an upscale and expensive restaurant can keep itself going with such poor substance.
