Irresistible Capri, beautiful boutique!

  1. Each room is your own island home-away-from-home
  2. Sample the best traditional cuisine from Capri at lunch
  3. Two pools and a fitness room for soaking in and working out

A luxury boutique hotel with friendly, impeccable service, a hushed, serene atmosphere, and a view over the sea stretching to the horizon. If this is what you're looking for on Capri, then your choice is clear: Scalinatella, the preferred hotel for travellers seeking peace, tranquility, and a touch of romance.

The hotel is located along Via Tragara, the picturesque lane which leads from the center of Capri town to the Faraglioni scenic overlook. The name "scalinatella" was inspired by the numerous steps and twisting flights of stairs that between the different levels of the hotel, which begin at street level and descend along the cliffside toward the sea in a dramatic series of terraces.

A Family Welcome

The hotel is run by the Morgano family, owners of the luxury Grand Hotel Quisisana on Capri, as well. The name is a guarantee of quality hospitality and flawless service.

A Terrace Over the Sea

The most beautiful rooms in Scalinatella are those which boast their own private terrace facing the Bay of Marina Piccola, where you can settle in and make yourself at home in the relaxing silence of your temporary island home. All the terraces have southern exposure, so you can enjoy basking in the sun throughout the day, with soft island breezes to cool you. Or you can choose to relax poolside at one of the two pools: one on the upper terrace with a view, and the second, smaller pool on a lower terrace with more privacy.

Both pools have a restaurant and snack bar with daily menus which change according to what is fresh and in season.

Please note:

  • Scalinatella is a hotel with a loyal clientele which returns each year, so we recommend booking far in advance to ensure availability.

  • Given the unique architecture of the hotel, children are not allowed.

Never go there !

This hotel seemed perfect for us and we had booked a room, so happy to celebrate our wedding anniversary there. The thing is that communication with them has been the most insulting and terrible we ever had since we travel in 30 years. This is what happened : I sent an email asking for the price of a private boat transfer. I received a quotation of 1400 euros and a few days later they told me that price had increased by 400 euros. I therefore asked them to contact the boat company because this was not very serious to change rates. Then the hotel staff (named Nicolas) sent me a message with explanation marks saying that the difference was so small. I therefore replied that it was not a small difference to me but he was so rude in his tone that I asked him if I should consider to cancel my reservation. And guess what ? His answer was yes do cancel ! So to the management of the hotel and their owners (to whom I will also write) : If that is the way you think hospitality should look like when you charge 1500 euros per night well… you should seriously consider a job change. There are plenty beautiful hotels in Capri who will certainly be happy to welcome new guests and who will not treat them like you do. The good is that I prefer to have experienced this well enough in advance as all the service they tried to give me during the reservation process was terrible : took weeks to get a reply, restaurants recommended did not have any description. It seemed all the way that they just did not care about their guests.

Best Hotel Experience Ever!

WOW, the amazingly helpful staff and beauty of this hotel was so unexpected! It is a bit of a walk to get to, but they do offer transportation of the luggage which is worth every penny since cars can't drive to the hotel. Check in was easy, we got a free upgraded room, and the room was clean and beautiful! Every person who worked at the resort was friendly and went out of their way to make sure you were taken care of. I'm going to miss the morning Buongiorno's as we made our way up to breakfast! It was the best included breakfast we've had in Europe, where you can order a la carte and have a beautiful view of the island of Capri. There isn't coffee in the room, but you could order it to be delivered by room service for no fee. We were up before room service one morning and called to order, and they automatically delivered the coffee to our room once it was ready without us having to call again (fantastic touch)! Huge shout out to Luigi for the great recommendations to sightsee, eat, and explore all that Capri has to offer! Thank you to everyone including Luigi, Carlos, and Roberto. We can't wait to go back!

The Highlight of our Trip to Italy!

This hotel was really the highlight of our 3-week trip to Italy. We stayed for 4 nights and my wife and I were both blown away by the beauty of the hotel and quality of service. We had room 67 I believe, on the lower floor and were rewarded with a large deck with spectacular views and 2 bathrooms, one of which was huge with a shower and 2-person tub. We also really loved the service offered by the concierge Luigi, who helped coordinate a private boat tour as well as highlighted scenic walks around the island. He also provided us with multiple tickets to the furnicular and even our ferry tickets off the island! They also coordinated the transfer of our luggage from the ferry to the hotel and back again, but that carries an additional charge of I think €18 per piece of luggage. The pool area is super nice as well with many chaises available that also have spectacular views over the island and water. Drinks can be ordered and consumed poolside while food can be ordered but eaten at the outside tables. Lastly the breakfast was excellent with many pastries and fruit and coffees by order. One small complaint is the coffee wasn't steaming hot which is how we like it. We stayed at another 5-star hotel in Sorrento on this trip that was also spectacular but it cost €300 more per night, so this hotel seemed a great value at €920 per night. My wife absolutely loved this hotel and Capri and would come back in a heartbeat.
