Villa Margherita

This was too bad. Are there new owners? Has eaten at the restaurant every time we have been to Capri. Mediocre main courses at double the price. This was different before. The highlight of the evening was the appetizer, caprese. The lemon cello was also good. What ruined everything was that we ordered a better wine at a high price - but even that was mediocre. Wrong label on the wine. Capri is actually the only place we have experienced it before. We are very interested in wine. The wine was not "vinegar" and we therefore do not wish to protest. The place gets 'a when they don't buy the wine from stable suppliers. A good wine always ruins a bad meal... we're not coming back next year. Brilliant service - but it doesn't help much when the food and drinks fail.

I have a memory of Villa Margherita that will unfortunately remain just that: an elegant place, discreet and attentive service, excellent value for money. In recent days I was at the same place but in the new version, Casa Paolino: a somewhat trashy place, service like a neighborhood tavern/pizzeria, and food like a highway rest stop at exorbitant prices (service, water...). Nothing on the menu justifies the costs; I understand that we are in Capri and I am even willing to pay for "exclusivity," but not to be in Italy and be treated like a sucker from abroad to be plucked. Stay away.

⭐⭐⭐ 3/5 Casa Paolino (formerly Villa Margherita) is a pleasant restaurant in a beautiful setting, but it doesn’t quite justify its premium prices. The restaurant recently changed its name from Villa Margherita to Casa Paolino after being completely redesigned as part of the new concept. We started with fresh scampi, which were excellent, and the linguine with clams was also very enjoyable, full of Mediterranean flavor. Unfortunately, the beef fillet was underwhelming and lacked the quality you would expect at this price point. The calamari served with potatoes was probably the biggest disappointment of the evening, and the ice cream was surprisingly poor for Italy. The atmosphere is elegant, the location is charming, and the service is professional, but the kitchen is inconsistent. Some dishes are genuinely good, while others feel average despite the high prices. Overall, Casa Paolino is a decent restaurant if you’re curious about the new concept, but it’s far from being one of Capri’s culinary highlights. With these prices, expectations are naturally much higher. There are several restaurants on the island offering better value for money.

The restaurant was fabulouse not only for the beautiful atmosphere but for the incredible food and service. We loved it so much that we went twice. I highly reckoned it.
